Default taking motor off boat

I am planning to take my motor off the back of the boat and put it back on the shipping pallet that it came on for the winter. I put the motor on the boat at work where I was able to use a forklift...at home I have a hoist.

My question is are the lift rings that are bolted onto the motor strong enough to support the motor, outdrive....everything? Or should I get a couple of friends to help me lift it up and off?

Thanks everyone.

woodsman1977,

I was at Mud Buddy when they put my motor on my boat and that is all they used was the rings provided on the motor.

Ditto, rings should be fine. But I have a question, why in the world would you want to take the motor off? Huntin' season is just gettin' cranked up. I guess everyone doesn't use their rig for duck huntin'. Although, you might want an extra hand there to keep the motor from swinging around while you move the hoist. That is if you're anything like me.......A bull in a china closet.

Huntn'duxx

I would hunt all of December but for some reason our sorry *ss DNR decided to close season on December 3 so this will be my last weekend out, its pretty disappointing too because it is my labs first season of hunting and she is really doing good, I just hate to quit.:damm:

I guess the DNR want to save a few fat mallards for you southern boys.

Have Fun

It sucks that hunting season is over here. Just put my rig in storage for the winter. BTW, any tips for winter storage??

I know how you feel. When I first took my 35 hyper out of the crate and put it on the boat the rings look a little weak. I used an engine puller and the rings worked fine. Sure made my nerves tence' all I could think of is my new motor hitting the floor.
