    Default speeds little insight

Hey guys...before i ring up Sid i wanted to get some consensus...I have a 16 44 Gatortrax with extended deck..half box and gun box..it is pretty heavy. It also has that cut back transom..it sits a little low IMO.

I have a 35 horse LA SPECIAL with carb so it is a 4000... I am getting max 27is mph with a brand new prop..was getting 24-25 with a fairly worn prop.

I believe my RPM max is somewhere like 4300 rmp or my tach is not reading the highest Rpm before the rev limiter kicks in (backfiring sound?)

so 2 questions what are the rpms i should be getting and approx what max speed woudl yall think i should be running

Sounds correct. Rev limiter should kick in around 4300.

I had a 17/44 with the exact same motor not too long ago, and I was able to average 28mph and bump 29mph on several occasions. It would run close to the limiter, which is 4300 rpm's
    .

whats the bottom of your boat look like?
i had some bad hooks in my boat that caused me to loose some speed.
might wanna take a look one the bottom side of your boat and see if your boat has any big dents in the back by the transom.
