Any pointers or suggestions to a duck hunt in Oklahoma? Been wanting to plan a trip somewhere for a few days and have heard good things from there. Did some research on Arkansas but got turned off when I read the locals dont take kindly to OOS (out of staters). Wondered if anyone has had any luck...I just want one good hunt this year. Just one! I been throwing them dekes out, pickin'em up...nothin....next time out, same thing. Since Teal season, it has been slow to just plain dead here. About the time the birds do get down here, the season is over! ![]() Willing to travel, wife even gave me the "go ahead" to bring home some duck....preferrably one with jewelry but something for the dinner table, instead of a stack of fuel bills and no birds to show for it! ![]() Any tips would help, not looking for your honey hole coordinates..just some help. Thanks |

TC, Be really careful where you go up there. OKies in some areas don't take to kindly to out of staters either, especially Texans. Best advice I have for ya is to hitch up your rig, grab a map and turn on your GPS. Alot of territory up there and it takes alot of windshield time and water time as well to learn even one area. Good luck and be safe. Headed norf myself here in a few minutes:food-smiley-012:

Thanks Rick...same to you. I don't get why everyone hates the Texans?:WTF: If someone asked me, even an OOS'er, where to go hunting I'd tell him..heck I'd take'em. I know I would because I've done it. Some kids were at the boat ramp recently and not locals, they wanted to hunt ducks but hadn't had a chance to scout. What's the big deal? I told them where would be a good place to set up and they shot birds and I shot birds at another spot? They should change the DU slogan from, "More ducks on the ground, means more ducks in the air," to "More ducks for me and only me!" ![]() For all you Out Of Staters on this forum that cringe when you see a TX license plate driving in your town.... "On behalf of all Texans, I TC Ryan, do hereby formally apologize for any of my fellow statesman's behavior while in your borders or ours." There. That should clear up all the problems. Man, TC for President? |

I hunt TX and OK and have always done really well on the NW end of lake texoma near lebanon with no problems from locals other than 1 particular guide. But the only thing I can tell you is that the flood on Texoma killed all the vegetation this summer and it has been the worst season for us in 6 or 7 years. I have heard that lake Hugo has some birds on it but I have not ever been there and would have no idea on were to hunt. The best hunt we have had this year was on(TX) lake. We killed 8 greenheads 3 teal a redhead and a pintail. Second best was another tx lake. Both of these lakes require the annual public hunt permit and one requires you to be done hunting by noon. Just my 2 cents. Find anything better and I would greatly appreciate the info.

Evidently I stepped on someone's toes here, Sorry if I gave away your secret hunting spots but the lakes I mentioned(BEFORE BEING CENSORED) are public not like I took someone into your private lease! I thought that was what this forum was for was to help other people out?? guess I was wrong! Oh well guess there is no such thing as free advise and helping your fellow hunters out anymore, and yes I do understand about pm's but why should I have to select who I am giving the lake name info to?? Not even like I gave out the GPS coordinates for where on the lake is the best place to set up at! Sorry to all if I sound pissed but in my opinion if you want somewhere all to yourself get a lease or buy your own land.

![]() I don't think ya stepped on toes though, some people make money by guiding and that could be in jeopardy so they might be on the defensive. Understandably so if their "secret" spot aint so secret. Thanks again for the info...I think I'll try and hire a guide for the later goose in OK, just to be on the safe side.:tomato: | |

Well nothing was directed toward you tcryan I just had my post edited but I will pm you what I put in my post. Wish you were in Houston instead of Georgetown I'm gonna be taking a trip with my wife Houston cuz her work is sending her to a class on the 10th and 11th and would love to get into some goose hunting down on the coast during that time. If you do make it up to OK or North TX let me know I'll pm you my info and maybe we could get together. Texoma may not have any ducks right now but we still have some killer fishing.
