Few questions first here; 1) What are your RPMs while running WOT? 2) What are your RPMs out of the water? 3) What bolts are you talking about? Don't know what "hydrolics" are but guessing you meant hydraulics. After you answer those should be able to help you out.

I believe he is talking about the Trim Bracket adjustments. With your boat sitting in the water and the motor trimmed all the way up, the prop blade should be breaking the surface. While running you should be able to over trim the motor up so the handle starts to push at you if its at the correct setting. Depending on which year model and trim type you have there are different sets of adjustment bolt holes on the trim bracket.

Just another perspective, but what is the condition of your prop?? Speaking from experience, I have a 17x50 GT with a MB 35 HDS....Initially was running 27.8 or better......recently GPS'd myself and 22 was the best I could get...If I had a load forget about it........Measured my prop and I had worn a FULL 1.25 inches off the prop......I only have 45 hours on mine too.....Had problems with high RPM's having to trim my motor all the way down to "grab and go" back firing from bumping the rev limiter.....Like I said, just a thought...hope you get it solved.....I have a prop on the way

3840 with no load could be on the low side. Go start it in the driveway, let it warm up and then mash the throttle and post the OOW RPM (i.e. where your govenor is set). Is your trim bracket set correctly as I posted above? I ask because when I first put mine on the Excel I was one setting off on the trim bracket and it really affected my performance.

3840 with an empty 1854 is okay. However, I have learned that a variety of things can cause performance concerns, and some of them are a combination of two or more issues. First, was there standing water in the boat for a long time. Even though the floatation in a boat resists soaking up water, it can happen. Meaning your boat could be heavier than you think. You mentioned your boat was empty, does that mean the storage boxes as well. Check the bottom for hooks (waves in the bottom caused by impacts or trailer.) Is your prop within a 1/4" of new size. Is there prop damage from impacts. Is your throttle and gov adjusted properly. Is a baffle broken in your muffler? Is your fuel fresh? When did you change your fuel filter last? Is the fuel hose crimped or crushed? I assume you have stick time and the trim is adjusted correctly. The list goes on. However, you are running okay now. |

| In gear. The shorter the wires the better battery will perform. Yes, your engine will begin to charge the battery I believe when revving over 1200/1300 RPM's, not sure about if those are the real numbers and maximum charge will be obtained over or around 3500. Some one more informed will give you the exact numbers, but I think I am close to them.

I have the exact same set up(1854 Excel 35 hd), and run 28 by myself, and 24-25 with two people. I have my battery up front also, and have not had any issues with it.
