I too am going to need a new prop this year but I cant decide if the 12 or go back to the stock. I run a 45hp and have trouble now getting full rpms. Is the 12 going to slow me down even more? I need top end more than I need hole shot torque.

What kind of boat do you have that a 45 cannot open up the rpm's. Do you have governor adjusted properly or gov spring tight enough?

I run a 18' war eagle and out of the water I can spin the motor to 4050 rpm. But in the water at best I only get to 3850. So I hesitate to go to the 12" prop which will only add to the torque load of the motor? anyone have a sugestion?

What gear you running? Might be able to change gears and get more rpm's. Look on the bottom near your oil drain and it will tell you what your top gear is(6,8). Post up what you find and I'm sure somebody will be running a similar setup.

dukhuntr'
I checked and I do not have a stamp on my motor. I see by other postings that my year may not have the stamp yet. Oh well.

I found it. I run a 6 on my drive. I'm not sure how that translates into the ratio, but if someone can offer a suggestion I would appreciate it.
