Default New Gator Hide in Florida

Just brought the new 3 Man Hide back to Florida. Left the Thursday before Labor Day and drove the Great Circle Route, (Triangle) from Florida to BFC Marine in Louisiana. Then on to Florence, SC for Opening Dove. Then back to Florida on Monday.

Hadn't had the boat three days and it had been in six states.

Now I finally have a reason to "cut the grass"!

with the 4 man hide there is a space or "area" between the drivers cokpit and the second cokpit. That is where the rounded grab bar goes. On a 3 man, that "space or area" is the center bench. This leaves no room to do that. So we go with a single grab bar. If you put the female posts down in the cokpit with the driver, you will hit your elbows on it coming up to shoot. So, there is a small area over on the side just big enough for one post to go thru, hence the single grab bar.

Tonight was the beginning of the Hiding the Hide. Got the Fast Grass attached to everything but the bow. I guess I need to float the boat to determine where to cut the bottom off.

Need to get some better dye for the hanks of grass on the deck. Of the two colors of RIT dye I tried, one turned out to be optic green:crazy: and the other was too blue-ish.

Anybody have any good "Dye" recipes??

Yea, I agree. My first attempt at dyeing dead leaves!! I need to re-dye to a darker green.

I wonder if RIT Dye makes a "Hydrilla" color?

saw a few birds on the O last weekend -- if we can get through all the mottles/spoonies/pinners, we may have a decent shot at the blue wangs and woodies...but i have a few more places to check out before we get started.

your hide (this year with the water down) would be deadly out there. we are going to have to hunt off the shore line (and out of the weeds this year) -- we have to creat our own island...never had to hunt like that -- usually, we can just pull up in the weeds with the hyper...the conditions and blinds we are going to have to make are exactly what the hide looks like. if you are ever down, i would love to check out -- and will take you to a few of the places i konw on the lake!

Got a chance to officially "Baptize" the Hide with this weekend's early duck season. Actually had two marsh birds try and land on the boat.

That's one of the best Hide camo jobs I have seen yet, especially the 1st picture.

The only thing that stands out is the spud pole. Looks like most Hide owners need the shorter spud poles.

PS: Where is the YELLOW LAB?

Yea, I may need to have an extra set of spud poles. Where I hunted saturday, I needed all eight feet. The Yellow Lab was home sleeping. She really wanted to go, but there are way too many gators this time of year.

We got a total of five Blue Winged Teal. Should have had more, but some of us forgot how to shoot. (Not to name any names, but it rhymes with "my oldest son".)

Did not see any Woodrows. Did see some Black Bellied Whistling Ducks that tried to land on us while we were picking up the dekes.

Oh, and we witnessed a Gallinule and a Coot square off over "Hydrilla Rights". :311boxing-thumb:
