We began working on a small short tail mud motor design two years ago. We wanted to release them last fall, but the design was not ready and sales demand of the Sports left us little time to build the little brother to the Balanced Hyper Drive. Yes, it is a balanced hyper design and has manual trim and no clutch. It is simple, tough and easy to run for those with small boats, 12 to 15 foot. We showed a test model at the Salt Lake Sportsman's Expo this spring and posted some photos. We have five models, a 6 Robin, 9 Robin, 14, 18 and 23 Briggs Vanguard. All have electric and pull start, and have the same quality as the Sports. We have run the pants of the test models since April and they are fun. Again, this year, we are slammed with Sport orders and it is cutting into production time for the mini HD Lites, however, I am determined to get them out this fall. We received the first 25 frames this week and Trashduck, dealer Kevin Lusk and I built the first production 23 Van model the past couple days. We will begin filling orders in two weeks starting with the Van 14, 18 and 23. The special props will be here early next week. The 6 and 9 need a bit more testing and we will begin releasing them after September 15. We are limiting sales to 250 motors this fall. We will not place national advertising for the mini motors in order to control demand. Mini motor orders always peak in December and we have a little time to develop the production assembly systems for this exciting new set of small short tails. |

Glenn, are you planning on reworking the design of the 23 Mini (as mentioned in the above post) or just the 6 and 9 h.p. models? Thanks! |

We have been running the minis all year and are releasing them slowly. We like the quick 23, the 18 is a powerhouse, the 14 gearing has finally been figured out and running great now. The 6 and 9 are back on the drawing board for the final design by spring. We have hardened the drive shafts to help swing the larger 11 inch blade and have beefed up the manual trim rod. We are now moving parts to South Carolina where they will be built this year. We are filling a couple dozen orders here while they get up and running. All looks good for the mini motors. |

The mini motors are for low transoms, 16 to 17". The 14, 18, 21 and 23 are similar blocks, different bore, stroke, flywheel and carbs.

As soon as the Hunter and 6000 are finished, we will burn a frame for the 30 Kohler. It runs with the large block 31 Van and is much lighter. I have big hopes for this combo. Here is some mini video. The 6 mini news I have is we will continue to offer the 6 Robin and reintroduce the Kohler geardrive 6 longtail. The Kohler 6 is the fastest 6 in its class. We like the 6 Robin because it is so easy to start. The Honda 6 was so difficult to start compared to Robin 6, we dropped this model.
