    Default Excel dog ladder?

Has anyone used the dog ladder shown on the Excel site? If so, how did it work for you? Pros and cons?

The ladder is very new. I personally designed it. It is made very strong, folds up and has a nice fold down step that I find helps dogs get on the ladder, especially when there is ice or slick mud.

Of course, it is fully adjustable to fit anywhere along the Excel or other boats. Hooks are rubberized to protect boat finish. All aluminum with hydroturf deck.

Thank you very much, Glenn, for your reply. I have a 1751SWV that I plan to put a Shaggy Blind on. Another question is where to hang the ladder. The two logical spots would be the bow, which would require stand offs, or the stern. In looking at all the pics I can find, the frame seems to be in the way for a stern mount. The prop may be a concern, but I think I'd be able to tie the tiller to one side to move the prop out of the way. Or maybe make a "doggie port" like the Quick Flip. This will be my first experience with a boat blind and I have much to learn. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

This type dog ladder mounts anywhere along the gunwale. It can't be mounted on the bow or transom.

We usually cut a three sided flap in the side of the Shaggy or Fastgrass blinds for the dog to enter. Once they go through the hole, they figure it out. The flap can be left down after the dog understands how to enter the boat, or can be rolled up. Some hunters don't want the dog in the boat. But the dog will want to climb up the side and over the top. The dog ladder is easy to mount, use and fold up, but you will run into these small challenges until you and your dog understand the concept of using a dog ladder on the boat.

I carry one all the time not knowing where and when I will need it.

If you have an Excel F4 or Gator Trax Hunt deck, you don't need a ladder unless you want the dog to work off the side of the boat.

photo - see the new fold down step with fabric pocket. That step is very important to help dogs when in mud or ice conditions. They need to be able to get their back foot in there to get up on the ladder. The ladder is fully adjustable ot match the angle of the boat side and height needed. I like to put the ladder just below the surface.
