Just this morning a customer of mine took out his 1851 excel with a stock 45 and with 2 men he is running 31. He does have the new excel hull. He is very happy with the 45.

With two people and gear, I average 22-24. I have a removable gun box on the starboard side. If I remove the box and swap my fat copilot with a smaller one, I can do 26.

Every boat and motor is different. The 1754 MW Excel I just sold powered by 35 with stock carb, crossover exhaust and headwork we were running 28.5 with 2 people on the test ride when I sold it.

the surging and cavitating stuff all stopped when I removed the dog step off the back and adjusted the valves back to spec. | |

2) It could mean 20%+ difference in power. My boat would toggle between 7 and 22 mph when they were leaking. When I had the heads changed out it was 26 mph with that load.
