I have seen them and they look good, to me. I have also put them next to the new dakota decoys, and I prefer the dakota. I'm always nervous about keels that attach/detach. Bad luck in the past with the GHG, so now I am gunshy. That being said, I still prefer the overall appearance of the dakota. Just my opinion. |

I'll try to get some pictures side-by-side over the weekend and post up. Overall, I was a little disappointed. I have high expectations for Drake products cause I really like the items I have bought in the past and think they are durable. I just have a hard time adjusting to the new standard of $100 for a dozen decoys. I expect a WHOLE lot for that price. Paint....I still prefer the Dakota between the two. I bought the FA Gunner decoys last year and was not impressed with the way the paint held up. I use the 12 slot decoy bags, and there were still paint issues. They even had a few issues when I opened them out of the box new. I don't know about the paint durability of the Dakota or Drake, but my overall impression was that the appearance of the Dakota was closer to my expectation for $100 a dozen. Size....seems like the Drake are "lifesize" (not standard, but not magnum). The Dakotas were bigger in size. Sum it up......we are keeping the Drake to mix into the decoy spread for different look from other decoys, but much prefer the Dakotas to be in strategic placement for birds that really want to look at decoys coming in. |

I bought a GHG 6 decoy puddler pack from Cabelas today for $29.99. I really like the way their decoys look the last few years and the keels are now fixed. $60 a dozen is not a bad price for a good looking decoy. It always seems that the cheaper decoys or the ones that go on sale are always mallards. Although that's all I used for many years, they don't blend in too well down here when the nearest greenhead is 30 miles away. Seems like you have to work harder now to fool these birds and try to do things the next guy isn't. |
