Default Crappy Morning

Had a hole that we've been seeing some birds in, but figured since it was the last weekend, we might better get there early. Got to the hole about 4:00, no one there, good. Set up about 7 deeks in pairs and pulled up to wait on shooting time. About 5:15, a godevil comes heading our way. We hit the spotlight and he passes us and gets about 75 Yds and cuts off and starts throwing out decoys. After about 15 minutes of that, I feel the ol rumble in the tummy and head for the dry ground. get about halfway there and step in a hole and fall over. Water comes pouring in the waders and i was off ballance and couldn't get right side up. Finally got up, took care of business and head back to the boat. About 5:45, hear an outboard heading in. Hit them with the light and they keep coming. Hold the light on em to no avail. They set up 50 yards dead straight in front of us. Found out later as we left that they had about 4 dozen dekes out this late in the season. Needless to say we are PISSED. 10 minutes before sunrise, both groups start highballing and quacking like crazy. Woodies would fly and get quacked at. We changed from pissed to just betting on what the dummies would do next. Managed to get a shot at a woody drake and wadded him up. We headed out and went to another river to ride around and look for tommorow. Jumped several in the river and found a slough that looked inviting. We cut the motor, loaded the guns and eased in. Managed to get three more. Not bad for the ordeal we started with. Put the gun in the pic for Almodux, 1968 Blonde Mag.

Good to salvage something.

50 yards in front, they would be showered by pellets- what were they thinking!
