Default call help

I recently purchased a Zink ,25$ "power hen gunsmoke" and the call blows over way too early. I trimmed the back of the reed to shorten it some and it workd better but still blows over early. My normal call is the original duck commander call. I understand that we are talking about 15-25$ calls so I'm wondering if I am wasteing my time with cheap calls. Do acrylic/expensive calls work well? I worried about buying a 100$ call and it sound like crap or it takes me 6 months to learn how to blow it correctly.

Yeah, and I know 'em both. They are both great guys and real gentlemen, not to mention easy to razz, and prolly good friends as well. But if it ever came down to it, that hairdresser is stout!
