Hi folks, Say Iam just about done putting my fast grass blind together and Iam real torn on where I should put my dog. Here are my two options let me know what you think. 1)I can make the blind shorter and put him on the front deck but more of the boat would be exposed(I hunt in low profile rice lakes) 2)Or, I could put him on a dog ladder off of the transom but this would add another 65lbs of weight on the back and he wouldnt be "high and dry" Neither situation is perfect so Iam looking for a little input here. Thanks in advance. Green Hornet |

Most of the time I am hunting a shoreline, broken marsh, or a small island etc. so my dog can sit outside of the boat on land. This is my first preference. If I am hunting open water not near land, then my dog sits on the hunt deck. Before my hunt deck boat, he sat on the bow of the boat and even sometimes with me in the blind with him looking out of the opening of the blind at the bow. I think my dog likes sitting on dry land better to watch the ducks. See in this pic, he is still watching ducks fly while we shoot pics. LOL!

I would put him in the front- I don't want mine coming toward the prop ever.

| The prop is not an issue. I normally hunt in shallow water less than 10" so I burry my prop in the mud anyway by tilting the engine all the way down. This anchors the stern of the boat in place and I carry a short spud pole (cajun anchor) for the front if and when needed.

Sailor sits in between the hunters in the middle of the boat. I make a small opening for him to watch and then when I am ready I lift the grass up and send him out. Your dog needs to be steady to do this.....Sailor is usually just asleep......
