Default Bama Backwater Roundup

Well, I better start getting some formal input for this thing. My gut is to shoot for fall to take advantage of the weather here, as long as it can be worked where it doesn't conflict with folks' hunting, etc. If yall want to say 'to heck with the heat', then as long as it won't conflict with Rick/Texas or other events, we'll get it on in August, or something...if not then, next spring. We're running out of planning windows for me here....it'll take me a bit to get all the ducks lined up for us and finalize all details, so ideas/input now would be appreciated. Those that know my area, don't ask me details of where we'll run...1st, I ain't decided for sure yet. 2nd, I'd like to try and suprise as many folks as possible with the types of terrain and the exact location on the lake/river. I'm looking at a Friday early arrival/MB prostaffer fun run, video shoot, etc. Then a Saturday Roundup/Demo/hang out/cook out session, leaving sunday for folks to ride. Might be able to line up some bowfishing or other activities while here for those interested. Let me have your other ideas/input.

Could care less about the heat. That just makes it more comfortable when I have to jump in the lake to clean off!! If it's up north in Alabama I'm bringing the fishing rods. Anybody up for a Guntersville mud motor bass tournament?

There was mention on TOS about drag racin', follow the leader, capture the flag, goin' the distance, and a few other events. Doesn't matter to me though. I could just come ride, fish, eat, and drink!! Don't take much to make me happy!!

I'm game for late summer. The heat might be nice since we could jump in to cool off if needed. Otherwise, any time before hunting season is good.

Let me know if you need any help with it. I'm only a couple hours away and could probably bring a couple other folks.

The more the merrier. We might have a trash collecting contest....run a mile course through some nasties and then whoever has the most crap in their boat (tree limbs, sawgrass, mud, weeds, birds nests, snakes, etc.) wins a prize or somethin'.....might have a 'race to the case' of coke or something...;) Lots of games you can play, provided we have the time. Might just plan a full Friday of sightseeing in the vicinity...caves, backwaters, terrain, etc. all by boat and just save our energy for the demo day, too. :)

That's part of bass tournaments Almo!! Of course you can play. It's always nice puttin a whoopin on the home town crowd. I've got all the techno gadgets on my rig too. That's what I do in the Coast Guard, I'm an electronics technician and have access to depth sounders, gps, vhf radios, radars, and whatever else you can think of.

Well good! Then you can hook a brutha up with one of them new Hummingbird type sounders that makes the lake bed look like a 3D satellite image.

PLEASE!!!!! Our technology is waaaayyyyy beyond all that! :lame: We have these new sticks that you carry in the boat. They have the depth marked in feet on em with paint. You simply stick it over the side and read the number that's showin at the water surface!

What more could you ask for? Simple, durable, and lasts a life time!!

I would actually forget those months all togeather. Most people deer hunt or duck hunt or both. If you have it then its hard for everyone cause they are already tapped out with funds for hunting season, plus they are trying to kiss up to the family knowing they are fixing to be busy every single weekend.

My suggestion would be summer time. Even though there are several others already, you can fit one in there somewhere.

The other thing to look at is the GT and MB crews will probably be really busy in those months fixing boats that haven't been ran since last hunting season. But thats just my 2 cents.

You try usin' one of them coonarse gadgets runnin' with me, and the first time you know it's too shallow will be when that measurin' stick whips up and smacks you in the back of the head.

Seriously...a little bit before all of the adds came out for that new stuff this year, a couple of the Hummingbird program mamagers were at a hotel I was stayin' at and showed me folders full of actual photos taken with that stuff, and I could tell you what KIND of fish was swimming by a stump at 50'.

Almo -- They are startin' to advertise that new system that combines depth sounders, radar, and 3D imaging. It looks really neat, but I've yet to research the price tag. I'm a little scared to see the price actually. I wonder what the transducer will consist of. Probably not gonna be able to use a thru hull ducer b/c of interference and signal degradation. Also can you imagine your repair bill if the display or ducer ever fails?:food-smiley-012:

I guarantee it's pricey as heck....no way you could get that quality of imaging w/o a hefty tag, IMHO. I'm actually considering a refuge. :appledance:

Nice terrain in big chunks and few folks could get to where we'll want to play, but it's open access public water...so as long as we don't run down any coots, we'll be good.

Friday afternoon, we'll have a 'pro staffer' fun run/ride or something, Saturday a.m., we'll have the 'roundup', with displays, vendors, demos, food, etc....then later Saturday afternoon, after all of that, we'll have a 'mud fest' type ride where anything and everything is invited. Just want to ensure that the MB folks can have their time, cuz I, other MB dealers, Mud Buddy, Gatortrax, maybe Legend Craft, and/or Excel, SDB, etc. will likely be putting a lot of effort into setting that time up, setting rigs/displays up, and demoing folks. It'll be costing all of us money, time, and effort to set all that up, so we want to have it how we'd like it for that time period, at least until that part is over and it's time to have fun and rip it up with all the other MM folks. I know most of you probably already know how all that works, etc...but the point is anybody can attend, just be respectful of our space during demos, etc.

I hear ya there,RK I'd hate to know that, after finding my trailer and actually loading the boat on it, then hauling said boat( plus the family )many hundreds of miles to ride with others of the same ilk, that I was excluded from participating because I wasn't a "PRO".( Yeah, I know that was a run-on sentence, but I'm doin' the best I can):poster_oops:

I'll take the title if you can get me my own personal copy of the "two videos" that you are referring to. I've seen the preview clips on the web and even a little of the actual film that a friend had. Unfortunately it was lost in the storm waters. I wonder if they're still for sale on the web somewhere?
