I'd like to take my son on a 3 or 4 day trip this winter while he's home from college. (mid to late Dec) Been doing a little research and have found several WMA's along the Mississippi to include rental cabins that seem pretty reasonable? Just wondering if anyone local to the area, or someone who's hunted that area of Arkansas recently could give me a little insight or perhaps a starting point to look at in the way of hunting area's etc. Really can't do a guided hunt, will bring are own boat and take a stab at doing it on are own. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Brian |

The only thing I learned last year when I was researching Arkansas hunting was that the state wants an arm, leg and your first born for an out of state hunting license. :WTF:I don't remember what the price was, but it was pretty pricey.

license prices for waterfowl in Arkansas are more than reasonable at $55 for five days and $20 for the stamp. If you hunt WMA's there is also a WMA permit that is $10 for one or $100 for all for the entire season. That's cheaper than I can remember paying in any of the state I hunt in. Big game or turkey might be another story, but waterfowl license are a bargin. Most WMA's in the state suffer from severe overcrowding. Water levels have a lot to do with that, but even in best of conditions, overcrowding is a big factor. With so many hunters on the public ground, the ducks don't have time to rest and get comfortable on most of the public that is open for shooting. check out the game and fish website www.agfc.com might be .org ?? |
