I have been looking hard at the Gator Flats, and the 1854HD. I like the HD5000 motor, but I have never run one. That is one reason why I am asking about reverse.
No sweat Brother. I was just curious. The Gator Flats is a great design. I think the best thing to do is Test drive what you think you want in a boat. Being in LA you have a great advantage due to the amount of dealers there. Those dealers are the ones that know their salt and generally can get you a test ride. That tells the story. Since the Mudbuddy combined with a GT boat turns 170 degrees and vertually turns in a circle. Where I hunt, I may be in a tributary(creek or branch for you LA. guys) J/K and I can go way up at least till it narrows to 16'(lenth of my boat) and turn around no problema. When you get some stick time you can actually run it up partally on the bank(round chine) and keep on ripping it.
Now the good news is if you have to have reverse, there are a couple available out there but I think you'll find as more guys add to this thread you'll see reverse is good but not completely necessary. Hope it helps you in your boat study.
