Jefferson really is a cool little town. Kind of like Salado without the overpriced art galleries. Lots of history, back in the mid-late 1800's when Jefferson was booming port city Jay Gould wanted to bring the rail road to town. The townspeople didn't like the idea and he got pi$$ed and told them that "grass would grow in their streets". Well, as the story is told, grass did grow in the streets and Gould took his railroad elsewhere. To the Big D, now Jefferson is a quite little bedroom community in East Texas and Dallas is the 2nd largest city in Texas and the 9th in the country.
Like deadbird said "alot of useless information"

My Dad is from Marshall and my grandparents owned a house on the lake for over 50 years, so all the history of the area has always interested me.
