Default Re: New High Performance Mud Motors

The cavitation plate (anti-cavitation) does help boats that are in mud and vegetation and blow out due to air introduction on the top side of the prop.

It does help most boats in these conditions, however, we are having some difficulty with the cav plate on the Gator Hide at higher elevations where we loose engine power. Just when we are about to get on step, air slips under the cav plate and causes us to spin out.

Not sure why, but it might have something to do with the fact that the Hide tends to draft very little water and raises the prop too high, too quickly. All I know is that once the cav plate is removed we get on step quicker on this model.
