Dear Steve Hoover, Duck Wrangler Boats,

Here's my feedback after 7 days of duck hunting, 3000 kilometers of trailering and about 18 launchings/loadings………..

bullet ...the Duck Wrangler boat is hugely solid and safe...
bullet..the blind is superb... I am using it with fast grass on the front and top, primarily because I like to disrupt straight lines...there are times when it's certainly easier to have two people to pop it up, but it is fine with just one person
bullet...the 27 hp Kawasaki Mud Buddy is absolutely awesome in mud and weedy water...I can safely go anywhere...in deep water, a fully loaded DW15 (two guys, decoys and a dog) will make maximum speed of about 15 km/hour...this is perfectly adequate…..
bullet
bullet...the trailer/boat combo is perfect...it is easy to launch…..
bullet...decoy storage is superb...I have only about forty decoys in it now, but they consume just one side of the boat...I've made a series of adjustments to how I store stuff in the boat, and I suppose these adjustments will be a never ending process...the shelf height is also superb, and I can get just about anything I want onto the top shelf
bullet...driving the boat with the camo up is a bit of a challenge, simply because the mud motor requires a lot of travel from side to side...with a conventional outboard the boat would drive beautifully with the blind fully erect...
bullet...the torque with this Kawasaki is incredible....one would not want to drive this thing without one's full attention on the task at hand, particularly in tight turns...
bullet...this must be the safest duck boat in history...I cannot imagine a situation in which the occupants would not be completely safe
bullet...on my first day with the boat we were heading down a small river and came upon a beaver dam...the water level on the other side of the dam was about two feet below us...we simply took a quick run at the dam and shot over the top...so far, so good, but in our enthusiasm we'd failed to observe that on our return we'd have to get up over the dam heading home...at the end of the day, we took a run at the dam and shot up and over with incredible ease...this isn't such a small feat with a fully loaded boat (which must weigh several hundred pounds before the motor and the rest of us)...we NEVER could have carried this thing over the dam
bullet...in short, this is EXACTLY what I was seeking...it is a go-anywhere duck boat that will be a treat to use for the next twenty years
bullet...as an aside, I suspect the DW17 will not be any slower than the DW15 despite its increased size and mass...I believe the ratio of width-to-length is one of the primary determinants of a boat's speed, and if the DW17 is no wider, it might even be faster as a result of the additional 2 feet in length

HI GLENN, thanks for the info on boat selection for my 13 hyper drive. Here's a little story on how well this motor performed on my 14/36 Lowe.

We put 3 men 2 labs and our gear in the boat and towed a 14' skiff with 75 decoys through a cattail marsh here in Wisconsin back in November, now I realize that's a lot to ask for but I'm the only one with a mud motor in our group (hopefully this will change).

The motor performed flawlessly and got us back in where we wanted to be. It was in the 20's with  30mph winds and snow. We had our limit of mallards in 1.5 hr. and would have never got there without this motor!

Thanks again Jeff

Just wanted to say thanks again for the rush job you did in getting my parts here on time.  That 9 x 6 Tiger blade you sent works really well.   That sucka' grabs the mud and gives you a great hole-shot.  You guys are the best.

Mud Buddy Hyper 6

The whole rig is simply awesome. The new 6hp Mudmuddy with the gear reduction is a fast motor and mounted on the back of a 4 rivers boat is the ultimate rig!!

I ran the motor in just 2inches of water to 7ft of wate. When i ran it real shallow it moved along just fine! I had to mess with the cavitation plate a little and i almost have it tweaked.  i'm gonna hafta adjust it a bit when i run a heavy load.

I didn't have a GPS but it ran pretty fast, way faster then any small outboard I have. i'd say it was for sure faster then a 6hp regular  outboard...I've ran a bassboat all spring and summer so i'm a little off on my low end speed comparisons. My bud has a GPS and later in the week i'll get sum accurate numbers!!

I would strongly recommend getting the 6hp gear reduction Muddbuddy if you have a layout. If you don't your really missing out!!  Better yet don't get one so i can pass ur arse up on the water!

Glen ,
I bought a 25hp MB direct from you in 2000. I had many phone
conversations  w/ you that led to my decision for MB over the others.
I have had not one single problem w/ it.  I am  now am interested in a
35 hyper.  How do I get on the list for one.  Is there a brochure on
it?  I heard a rumor of console steering?
thanks,

Glen and Clint:
My name is Alexander Urquia I am the proud owner of Mudbuddy 24 longtail that I bought from you guys over three years ago. My engine has over 100 hours and not even a hickup. I love it. I too was surprised by Mark Fisher's comments about Mud Buddy and the Hyper.  He has a strange way of introducing a new product. We know him well and don't buy any of his stories.  I appreciated your candor in your high road letter.  You guys are a class act.

Sincerely
Alex Urquia

Hello-

I have been using many of your waterfowl products for years, and I absolutely love them. I also just bought a new Mud Buddy motor for my boat and absolutely love it!! The best part is that they are great quality, and at an affordable price. It’s not true when we say we get our moneys worth, cause we get more then what we pay for, and that’s why I continue to use your products!!

Glenn,

I wanted to say “Thank You” for the great customer service that your company provides.

I received the message below from Andy (Boat Dr) today about my lower drive which was sent in to MB due to problems with the seals.

“I got back you lower drive yesterday, and in the box was a brand new one. On the packing slip was a note from the warranty manager stating that they wanted to give you a new drive because there are a couple of components on your original one that they don't use anymore and wanted to retire the drive and update it to the latest version.”

Thanks,
Todd

Clint,

Got my new Excel and Mud Buddy 35 Sport. I have no words to describe how pleased I am with the combo. The boat is unbelievable, and the motor is awesome. My GPS showed 26.8 the first time in the water, I haven't checked it since then cause I'm too busy looking for ducks! Thanks with all the help ordering that package. Everyone I come across while hunting asks about the boat/motor and I tell 'em the story with a smile on my face! Hopefully you'll be hearing from some guys from Indiana. Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year!

I'm sure you get pictures all the time, but I just want to send this to you. This is my son he is almost four, and he loves riding in the boat, fishing and seeing what I bring home from hunting trips. He stands up in church and tells everybody what I killed the day before. We don't have a lot of birds he is SC, but I manage to kill a few and he loves checking them out and cleaning them with me. Thanks for such a good product that allows my family and I to have such fun together! I can't wait til he gets a little older and I can take him hunting!!

glenn,   just wanted to thank you for the prompt service on the throttle cable. i was able to hunt the last day of season and had a great time.  these motors are impressing everyone out here.  including me.  i went thru a thick strip of small trees 1" to 5" diameter and the trees almost lifted the entire boat out of the water and it still climbed thru them    we all were amazed!!!!!  now that season is over i will get that video converted over and get it to you.

thanks a million     janos

Hey Clint! Just wanted to drop a line and tell you how much I appreciated doing business with you.  You made my Mud Buddy purchase about as “painless” as it could be.

The best part though, is how that Mud Buddy 35 Sport runs.  Your website videos didn’t lie.  I can honestly say the Mud Buddy is far more responsive, maneuverable, and useful than my old Merc. Jet ever dreamed of being.  I was a little surprised the first time I goosed the throttle from a  standing start---nearly fell over. That Mud Buddy dug in and brought my boat my boat on plane in about 3 seconds! The old jet took 10-15 seconds! Just to test it, I purposely crossed a mud bar in the Snake River, one that plugged my old jet up tight, and barely even slowed down! There were some other  boaters there and I am sure they expected to see me limp in with a busted motor, but I didn’t even scratch the prop!

Again, THANKS for a great motor!  If you ever need a testimonial for a future customer, feel free to have them call me.

COMMENTS OR QUESTION: just wanted to shoot an e-mail to let you all know about the performance of my boat. i was on the river yesterday and ran with another boat. the other boat was a 14x48 with a 40 hp johnson jet. mine is a 14x48  with a 23hp mini-lite. both boats were loaded the same approx. weight at first. we started running, he was in front, and i had to back off as i was almost running over him as we crossed the sholes. plus he was pushing all the water out and i was running out of water. later i had a full live well with water and cat fish we ran. i lost a little but was still faster. this is the first time i have run with another boat . i was very impressed wit the boat. i still don't think i can run as shallow but i havent had any problem going where the jets go. this motor is the way to go.

Bon Jour Glenn,

After we tested the boats when you were here I wanted to try one on my duck lease. That is where I use my airboat most. It is a cypress swamp with varying water levels. I took the 1860 with the larger unit on it.  We have a lot of stumps and beaver dams.  The unit did very good.

At times I would see pieces of wood thrown in the air by the prop. I didn't try to abuse it but I put it threw its paces.  I know where most of the stumps etc are. Anyway, I was concerned about the trim unit and the prop.  Both did very well. You have one heck of a prop.  It came back without a scratch on it.

I found the boat ran well with the prop breaking the surface. There is a long shallow area that allowed me to run at mid range on the throttle.  I played with the trim and got the prop about half way out the water.  I was surprised how well that worked.

Let me know next time you are in the area, we'll go chase some redfish.

Merci,
